Thank you Indianola Middle School for collecting your coins, too! What a generous gift! We will combine your givings with ours, allowing us to present $2100 to give our friends in Slidell, Louisiana, as they begin to rebuild their high school. What a wonderful neighboring school district you are! Thank you Mrs. Petersen for leading your school’s effort in this effort.

Southeast Polk has been working hard during the 2006 – 07 school year to “lend a hand” to friends in the New Orlean’s area as they rebuild following the destruction of Katrina. The high school book club has raised nearly $4000 towards this effort. In March 2007, members of the book club will go to Lousiania to present a donation for rebuilding Salmen Senior High’s library. During this trip, the students will also pitch in and help rebuild community! What a great opportunity to see what an impact students can have on improving their global community!
